چکیده

Within the last few years, laser magnetic resonance (LMR) has emerged as a powerful technique for the detection of transient species in the gas phase and the study of their rotational spectra. The sensitivity of this method is con siderably higher than those of most competing techniques, such as conventional optical and microwave spectroscopy and gas-phase EPR, while the resolution attainable is comparable with that of the latter two methods. The domain of appli cability of LMR presently includes atoms, ground states of molecules with up to 5 atoms, and most recently, short lived

Laser - magnetic - resonance detection of magnesium atoms in the metastable 3 P 0

I . The technique of far-infrared (FIR) laser-magnetic-resonance (LMR) spectroscopy is a highly sensitive, high-resolution method for obtaining atomic and molecular spectra in the region between 40 and IO00 pm.] The high sensitivity, derived mainly from intracavity operation and high frequencies (compared with conventional microwave systems), places FIR LMR among the most sensitive absorption t...

Rotational Spectrum of the AsH(2) Radical in Its Ground State, Studied by Far-Infrared Laser Magnetic Resonance.

The rotational spectrum of AsH(2) in its ground &Xtilde;(2)B(1) electronic state has been recorded using a far-infrared laser magnetic resonance spectrometer. The AsH(2) radical was produced inside the spectrometer cavity by the reaction of arsine (AsH(3)) with fluorine atoms. Hyperfine splittings from both (75)As and (1)H nuclei were observed, and analysis of the spectra has yielded accurate v...

Direct Measurement of the Fundamental Rotational Transitions of the Oh Radical by Laser Sideband Spectroscopy

We report for the first time the direct (zero-field) spectra of the fundamental rotational transitions of the OH radical in its 0 = 3/2 and 1/2 states at 2509.9 and 1834.7 GHz using a recently developed far-infrared laser sideband spectrometer. These measurements have verified and refined the predictions of previous laser magnetic resonance (LMR) work, thereby confirming the far-infrared detect...

Direct Measurement of Fine Structure I N the Ground State of Atomic Carbon by Laser Magnetic Resonance Richard

The fine-structure intervals in the ground 2 3P multiplet of lZC I have been measured with high accuracy by laser magnetic resonance. The results are: AR(3Y2-3P1) = 809.3446 (29) GHz and AE(3Y1-3Po) = 492.1623(7) GHz. These precise nieasurements have made possible the astronomical detection of far-infrared line emissions from I2C atoms in several interstellar sources, as reported in the accompa...

Picosecond time-resolved cyclotron resonance of non-equilibrium carriers in semiconductors

We have investigated the intraband dynamics of non-equilibrium carriers in semiconductors, using a picosecond far-infrared (FIR) free-electron laser synchronized with a femtosecond near-infrared (NIR) Ti : sapphire laser. An intense NIR pulse creates carriers, which interact with a delayed FIR pulse. We detect time-resolved cyclotron resonance by monitoring the intensity of the transmitted and ...
